A crankbait is a hard lure with a lip at the nose. The lip makes it dive and wobble on a straight retrieve: a short lip runs shallow, a long lip runs deep. Minnow lures are the slim version. We sell them from a 2.7 cm mini set up to a 17.8 cm minnow, single or in sets.
How does the lip change the depth?
The longer and flatter the lip, the deeper the lure dives. Our diving lure with a long clear lip is 16.5 cm and 21 g; our jointed minnow lists a dive depth of 0.5 to 3 m. The small, round-lipped crankbaits run shallower and suit lighter line.
Fat crankbait or slim minnow?
A fat body gives a wide wobble and a bigger silhouette; a slim minnow has a tighter roll and a smaller profile. Our fat crankbait is 7.5 cm and 7 g in five colours or a set; our 11.5 cm bass minnow is 11 g with treble hooks and an ABS body.
What does a jointed minnow add?
A joint lets the tail swing separately from the head, so the lure swims with a bend as well as a wobble. Our jointed minnow is 13.3 cm with size 4 treble hooks and a listed dive depth of 0.5 to 3 m, in six colours.
What is a lipless crankbait?
A lipless crankbait has no lip at all; its flat sides and nose-mounted line tie make it vibrate on a straight retrieve, and it sinks, so you count it down to the depth you want. Ours is ABS with two treble hooks in eight colours. The listing does not give a size or weight, so we do not quote one.
Is a set better value than singles?
