A jig head is a hook with a lead weight moulded at the eye. You rig a soft bait on the hook, and the weight sets how fast it sinks and how deep it runs. Our jig heads come in 3.5, 5, 7 and 10 g, and we also sell grubs already rigged on 3.5 g heads.
Which jig head weight should I use?
Lighter heads sink slower and suit shallow water and small baits; heavier heads get down faster in deeper water or current. Our weighted jig head hooks come in 3.5, 5, 7 and 10 g, barbed, with a wide gap, in packs of 3 or 10, so you can carry a few weights and match the water on the day.
What soft baits fit a jig head?
Curly tail grubs, paddle tail swimbaits and craw shapes all rig on a jig head: thread the hook through the nose and out the back so the bait sits straight. Our 10-per-bag curly tail grubs are 1.6 g each and 6 or 9 cm unfolded, and our craw lures are about 8 cm, four to a bag.
Should I buy rigged or separate?
Rigged grubs save time and come matched: our jig-headed grubs are 3.5 g heads with 6 cm curling tails, four to a bag, in ten colours. Separate heads and grubs cost more up front but let you change weight or colour without rerigging a whole set, which suits anglers fishing several depths.
What about a jig head swimbait?
A jig head swimbait is a soft fish-shaped body moulded onto a weighted head, so it is ready to tie on. Ours is 10 cm, PVC, with 3D eyes and a lead head, in six colours. It is a different tool from loose jig heads: one lure, one weight, no rigging.
