A jointed swimbait is a fish-shaped lure built in linked segments, so the body bends and swims on a steady retrieve. More segments mean a smoother bend; a longer body means a bigger profile. We sell hard jointed swimbaits from 10 to 14 cm, one with rattling sound balls, and soft jointed swimbaits.
How many segments do I want?
Fewer segments give a tighter wiggle; more segments give a snake-like swim. Our 7-section swimbait is 10 cm and 15 g; our 8-segment swimbaits are 14 cm with size 4 treble hooks and 3D eyes. The trout-pattern version has the same 8 segments in four colour patterns.
What are sound balls?
Sound balls are small steel balls inside the lure body that click as it moves. Our jointed swimbait with sound balls has steel balls inside, including a centre ball that moves, per the listing, and comes in ten styles or a set of three.
Hard or soft swimbait?
A hard swimbait has a plastic body with hinged joints and treble hooks. A soft swimbait is moulded PVC that bends on its own. Our soft jointed swimbait comes in 8, 9.6 and 13 cm, and our 10 cm jig head swimbait has a lead head and 3D eyes already fitted.
Which size for which water?
Smaller swimbaits suit lighter rods and clearer water; the 14 cm lures throw a bigger profile and cast further. Weights listed on our pages range from 3.7 g for the small soft swimbait to 16 g for the 13 cm one and 15 g for the 7-section hard lure.
